FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has placed four players on waivers: forward Blake Brettschneider, defender Flo Lechner, midfielder Alec Purdie and midfielder Michael Roach. All four players will be available to the other 18 teams in Major League Soccer through this afternoon’s Waiver Draft.

Brettschneider, 23, made 17 appearances, including 10 starts, at forward for the Revs this season while scoring two goals and adding one assist. He also made seven appearances in the MLS Reserve League. After playing his rookie season with D.C. United, Brettschneider signed with the Revs on March 6, 2012.

Lechner, 31, made nine appearances – including seven starts – this year, all coming at right back. He recorded one assist – at Toronto on June 23 – after signing with the Revolution on March 13, 2012 on a free transfer after an 11-year career in Germany, mainly with FC St. Pauli.

Purdie, 23, made five appearances this season, mainly as a wide midfielder. His lone start came at Philadelphia on Oct. 6. He also made seven starts in the MLS Reserve League. Purdie originally signed with the Revs on March 6, 2012, after the team selected him the second round (22nd overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft.

Roach, 24, did not make a regular-season appearance this year, but appeared in all 10 of the Revs’ MLS Reserve League matches. He also started the team’s U.S. Open Cup match against the Harrisburg City Islanders in May. Roach originally signed with the Revs on March 6, 2012, after the team selected him in the fourth round (60th overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft.
