FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (6-10-5, 23 pts.) returns home this week to face Sporting Kansas City (11-7-4, 37 pts.) at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, August 4, at Gillette Stadium in the second game of a special international soccer doubleheader. Italian giant AC Milan will face Honduras power Olimpia in the first game, kicking off at 4:30 p.m.

The Revolution match will be televised regionally on Comcast SportsNet and will also be carried locally on the radio by 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Saturday’s match against Kansas City will mark the third and final time that the clubs meet this season. The two teams played to a 0-0 draw on July 21 in Kansas City, while Sporting KC shut out the Revs, 3-0, in the first meeting of the season on March 17, at Livestrong Sporting Park.

Winless Streak Now at Four

Costly Penalty Kicks Against

On Sunday - for the second time in three games – the Revs conceded a penalty kick … Montreal’s Patrice Bernier gave Montreal an early 1-0 lead on July 18, before Philadelphia’s Freddy Adu scored from the spot on Sunday night to level the game at 1-1 … in both games, the Revs later conceded a second goal en route to a 2-1 losses … prior to the match in Montreal, the Revs had not conceded a penalty kick attempt in the team’s first 18 games of the season.

Tough Results in One-Goal Games

Sunday night’s 2-1 loss was the Revs 10th defeat of the season and ninth overall defeat of the season in a one-goal game … the Revs are 2-9-0 this year in 11 one-goal games and have dropped their last five one-goal contests dating back to a 2-1 loss on May 5 at Salt Lake … the 3-0 loss to Kansas City on March 17 remains the Revs’ only defeat of the season by more than one goal.

Rare Second-Half Concessions

Saer Sene scored his team-leading ninth goal of the season on Sunday – his first since June 30 against Seattle … Sene’s nine goals are the team’s most in a season since Taylor Twellman scored 16 in 2007 … with his goal on Sunday, Sene has scored in each month of the season except April as the Frenchman scored twice in March, five times in May and once each in June and July.

Sene’s Seven Shots on Sunday

Saer Sene took seven shots in Sunday night’s match at Philadelphia … while only three of those shots were on frame – including one for an 12th-minute goal – a player having seven shots is an infrequent occurrence for the Revs … the last Revolution player to record seven or more shots in a game was Taylor Twellman on Oct. 16, 2008, in a 2-1 loss to D.C. – a stretch of 115 games since.

Young Kelyn’s Helping Ways

Kelyn Rowe recorded his third assist of his rookie season on Sunday night when he fed Saer Sene’s 12th-minute goal … Rowe – who was drafted third overall in the 2012 SuperDraft – became the first Revolution draft pick since James Riley in 2005 to record three assists in his rookie season … Riley recorded one goal and three assists in 23 games in his rookie year, while Rowe has two goals and three assists in just 17 appearances in 2012.

Rowe Doing All He Can

The Revs have scored just two goals in their last three games, but rookie Kelyn Rowe has provided the assist on both of the Revolution’s goals … both of Rowe’s assists in this recent have been on long-distance strikes … Lee Nguyen scored the Revs’ lone-goal on July 18 at Montreal on a ball from Rowe, before the UCLA product assisted Saer Sene’s blast at Philadelphia on Sunday.

Dimitry’s Debuts

Dimitry Imbongo made his MLS – and Revolution – debuts when he checked into the game in on Sunday night … Imbongo became the 13th Revolution player this season to make an MLS debut in their first game with the Revolution … Imbongo, 22, was signed by the Revolution on July 16 and joined the team for his first training session on Tuesday, July 24.

Alston Hits the Century Mark in Starts

Kevin Alston recorded his 100th start in his 100th appearance on Sunday night in Philadelphia … Alston, 24, became the first player drafted in the first round of the 2009 MLS SuperDraft to record 100 appearances and starts … LA’s Omar Gonzalez (89 appearances) and AJ DeLaGarza (87 appearances) rank second and third, respectively, in appearances from the 2009 draft class … Alston made 26 starts in his rookie season, 22 starts in 2010, and starting 33 in 2011.

Tierney Next in Line

While Kevin Alston made his 100th appearance in Philadelphia, his backline teammate, Chris Tierney, is the next in line to potentially hit the century mark in appearances … Tierney enters the weekend with 94 appearances – including 88 starts – and if he remains healthy, would reach his 100th appearance when the Revs host the Union on September 1.
