FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis won Major League Soccer’s Save of the Week for Week 20, the league announced today. Reis’ sprawling one-handed save in a 0-0 draw on the road against Sporting Kansas City last Saturday earned 45.1 percent of all fan voting through MLSsoccer.com in the three-day voting period between Tuesday and Thursday.

Reis, 37, recorded the award-winning save in the 52nd minute last Saturday, July 21, at Sporting Kansas City. With his momentum going to his left, Reis recovered and dove back across the goal to his right to stop Jacob Peterson’s headed shot. A highlight clip of Reis’ save can be found at MLSsoccer.com HERE.

Reis’ save of the week nod is his first and the Revolution’s first of the 2012 season. It’s also the club’s first weekly save honor since Week 7 of the 2011 season when Bobby Shuttleworth won for a double save at Chivas USA.

The Revolution returns to action on Sunday, July 29, when the team heads down I-95 to face the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park. NBC Sports Network will televise the game nationally, while 98.5 The Sports Hub will carry the game locally on the radio. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
