FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution (5-7-3, 18 pts.) returns home for a three-game home stand beginning at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, June 30, when the team hosts Seattle Sounders FC (7-5-4, 25 pts.) at Gillette Stadium.

Comcast SportsNet will televise the game while 98.5 The Sports Hub will carry the game on the radio.

Saturday’s match is the only regular-season game between the two teams this season. This year marks the first time since Seattle joined MLS in 2009 that the two teams will not meet twice in a season. Seattle won the season series in 2011, winning both games. Seattle earned a 2-1 win at Century Link Field on June 26 and later beat the Revs, 2-1, on Oct. 1, at Gillette Stadium.

The Revolution enters the match riding a three-game undefeated streak (1-0-2), while Seattle is winless in its last seven MLS matches (0-4-3), with its only wins since early May coming in U.S. Open Cup Play. The Sounders will also come off a mid-week game on Tuesday in which they’ll face the San Jose Earthquakes in a U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal match.

AC Milan & Cruzeiro Meet in Aug. 4 Doubleheader

A Quick Break from the East

Saturday’s opponent, Seattle, will be the Revolution’s only Western Conference opponent in a 15-game stretch that began on May 15 and extends until August 25 … during the summer months, the Revs will play 14 matches against Eastern teams and just one – Saturday’s match against Seattle – against a Western team … following Saturday’s match against the Sounders, the Revs’ next match against a team from the West will come on August 29 when New England hosts Chivas USA at Gillette Stadium.

Welcoming the West

Overall, the Revs are 4-3-0 against Western Conference teams this year … however, New England has been even stronger at home, going 3-0-0 against the West at Gillette Stadium … in the three home wins – against Portland (March 24) Colorado (May 2) and Vancouver (May 12) – the Revs have outscored their opponents, 7-2.

The Revolution’s five-game unbeaten streak at Gillette Stadium in on the line on Saturday when the team hosts Seattle … the Revs are 3-0-2 at Gillette Stadium dating back to May 2 … the last time the Revs failed to earn at least one point at home came against D.C. Boston, Seattle Not-So-Close, But In Results

The New England Revolution and Seattle Sounders FC have met six times before, but, despite the short series history, the teams have a habit of playing tight games … four of the six meetings have resulted in one-goal games, including a pair of Seattle one-goal wins in 2011 … each team is 2-2-0 in the one-goal games against each other.

A Chance for an Unbeaten June

The Revs are 1-0-2 so far in June and enter Saturday’s match with a chance go unbeaten in June for just the second time in club history … in 2001, the Revs were also undefeated in June, going 1-0-3 in four games … last season, the Revs went winless in June and finished the month 0-3-2.

Longest Unbeaten Streak of 2012

Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Toronto, the Revs are in the midst of a three-game unbeaten streak, its longest unbeaten streak in 2012 … after a June 2 win against Chicago, the Revs have played back-to-back draws against Columbus (0-0) on June 16 and Saturday at Toronto (2-2) … the last time the Revs had a longer unbeaten streak was late in 2011, when the Revs went four games unbeaten (1-0-3) from August 17 through Sept. 10.

Another Multiple-Goal Game

Following a scoreless draw against Columbus on June 16, the Revs responded with two goals on Saturday, the team’s eighth multiple-goal game this year … it was also the Revs’ fifth multiple-goal game in its last seven matches ... with seven multiple-goal games in 15 contests this year, the Revs are tied for fourth in MLS in number of multiple-goal games … in 2011, the Revolution recorded just 10 multiple-goal games in the 34-game schedule.

Second-Half Fight Club

Chris Tierney’s 94th-minute equalizer at Toronto on Saturday gave the Revs a 2-2 result after trailing 2-0 at halftime … Saturday’s match was the first time in 2012 that the Revs came back to earn a point after trailing at the half … the Revolution entered Saturday’s game at Toronto 0-4-0 when trailing at halftime, and are now 0-4-1 following Saturday’s result.

Late-Arriving Goal Helps

Chris Tierney’s stoppage-time goal on Saturday also allowed the Revs another first in 2012 … Saturday’s match marked the first time New England secured a result with a goal after the 75th minute … the last time the Revs scored a game-tying goal after the 75th minute was July 23, 2011, when Shalrie Joseph converted a 90th-minute penalty kick at Colorado to help the Revs earn a 2-2 draw.

Tierney Reaching New Heights

Chris Tierney scored his second goal of the season in the 94th minute, matching his previous single-season high … in 2011, Tierney scored two goals in 27 appearances, a tally he’s matched already this season in just 14 appearances … with two goals, Tierney ranks second on the Revolution, tied with Blake Brettschneider, Lee Nguyen and Kelyn Rowe, who also each have two goals … Tierney also shares the team lead in assists (3) with Shalrie Joseph.

Diego Gets the Start

Diego Fagundez made his first start of the season on Saturday at Toronto … Fagundez, 17, last started a game on Oct. 15, 2011 against Columbus at Gillette Stadium … the start was the fourth-career start, and his first since Oct. 15, 2011, a 3-0 loss to Columbus at Gillette Stadium … coming into the Toronto game, Fagundez had made four substitute appearances this year, his last coming on May 19 against Houston.

Flo Steps in and Delivers

After missing nine weeks of action with a broken fifth metatarsal, Flo Lechner returned to the field with the first team this weekend at Toronto … Lechner had previous made one rehab start with the Revs’ reserves on Sunday, June 17, but Saturday’s substitute appearance at Toronto was his first with the senior squad since April 5 when he started at Dallas ... Lechner, who replaced Kevin Alston in the 40th minute after Alston picked up a left hamstring injury, earned an assist on Chris Tierney’s 94th-minute equalizer.

Brettschneider Bags Another

Blake Brettschneider, who came to the Revs in preseason after being waived by D.C. United, scored his second goal for New England on Saturday … well-positioned on the near post, he was perfectly-placed to angle in the rebound a Benny Feilhaber shot from distance that Toronto’s Milos Kocic saved … Brettschneider has scored two goals for the Revolution in nine appearances, with both goals coming in road matches … his two goals doubles his 2011 rookie-season total for United.

Shalrie Knows How to Silence Sounders

Although his status for Saturday’s game against Seattle is still unknown after he missed the team’s match in Toronto this weekend with a right adductor strain, Shalrie Joseph has historically been a threat against Seattle … the Revs’ captain has three goals – including two game-winners – in six career appearances against Seattle … all three of his goals came in 2009 as he paced the Revs to a pair of wins.

YOUTH UPDATE
Development Academy Playoffs

The U18s and U16s have qualified for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, which will be held this week at FC Dallas Sports Park in Frisco, Texas … the teams will each play three group matches, with the top finisher in the groups advancing to Finals Week in Houston, Texas, from July 16-23.

Continuing the Tradition

The U16s have qualified for Playoffs each of the last three years (2010, 2011 and 2012), while the U18s have qualified twice in three years (2010, 2012) … the Revolution launched its youth development program ahead of the 2008-09 season.
