Kheli Dube vs. D.C. United

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The Revolution selected Seattle Sounders FC forward Nate Jaqua and D.C. United midfielder Clyde Simms in Stage 2 of the Re-Entry Process, held today. The club also announced its 2012 preseason plans as the Revs will open camp Monday, Jan. 16, and have two trips to Arizona scheduled, including a two-week trip to Tucson for the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup, Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Saturday, March 3.The Revs’ youth teams also completed play at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase in Florida last Monday.


TEAM NOTES

Revs pick two in Stage 2
The Revs picked up the rights to forward Nate Jaqua (first round) and midfielder Clyde Simms (second round) in Stage 2 of the 2011 Re-Entry Process on Monday afternoon … Jaqua has played the last three seasons in Seattle, while Simms spent the past seven years in D.C. … Jaqua, 30, has nine seasons of MLS experience with four teams, and has made 197 career MLS appearances while scoring 41 goals and adding 29 assists ... Simms, 29, made 182 regular-season appearances with United mainly as a defensive midfielder, adding three goals and seven assists …the Revs now have seven days to tender contract offers to the two players.


Dube departs for Fire
Kheli Dube, who spent the last four seasons in New England, was selected by the Chicago Fire in the first round of the 2011 Re-Entry Draft on Monday … Dube scored 14 goals and nine assists in 72 appearances, but was limited to five appearances in 2011 after suffering whiplash in a car accident in late May … Dube originally joined the Revs through the 2008 Supplemental Draft and was a finalist for MLS rookie of the year that season.


Revs announce 2012 preseason plans
The Revolution will open its first preseason training camp under new head coach Jay Heaps on Monday, Jan. 16 … during their seven-week preseason schedule, the Revs will make two training trips to Arizona to prepare for the upcoming campaign … included in the schedule is the FC Tucson Desert Diamond Cup, a four-team preseason tournament in Tucson, Ariz., that also features the 2011 MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy, the New York Red Bulls and 2011 CONCACAF Champions League finalist Real Salt Lake.

2012 MLS SuperDraft
Thursday, Jan. 12 – live in Kansas City, Mo.
MLS will conduct its annual college draft at 12 p.m. ET, on Thursday, Jan. 12, in Kansas City, Mo. … players who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, as well as Generation adidas players, and potentially a select number of young international players, will be available to the 19 teams … this year, the SuperDraft was shortened from three rounds to two rounds … barring any trades, the Revs are expected to hold the third overall pick in both rounds of the SuperDraft … a full listing of the teams’ draft positions – including any positions swapped in trades - will be released closer to the draft.


2012 MLS Supplemental Draft

MLS will conduct the annual Supplemental Draft on Monday, Jan. 17 … eligible players who were not selected in the MLS SuperDraft are available to teams …this year, the Supplemental Draft was expanded from three rounds to four rounds … barring any trades, the Revs are expected to hold the third overall pick in each of the four rounds of the Supplemental Draft … a full listing of the teams’ draft positions – including any positions included in trades - will be released closer to the draft.
