A lot of star power has come through the Boston area this summer, with several high-profile concerts, sporting events and movie productions in the region.
But the star power will come to the Revs’ training field on Wednesday, ahead of the annual Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston in Norton this weekend.
PGA Tour star Sergio Garcia, the 1999 rookie of the year and 2008 scoring average leader, will make an early stop in the area, joining the Revolution at its mid-week training session.
Garcia is in town to play in the Deutsche Bank Championship, which is played annually at TPC Boston in Norton, Mass., on Labor Day weekend. This year’s tournament starts on Friday, Sept. 2, with the final round of play on Monday, Sept. 5.
An avid soccer fan, the Spaniard has reportedly kicked around with several teams while on tour throughout the U.S. and Europe in his career. Garcia has seven wins on the PGA Tour, and eight wins on the European Tour. He has played on five of Europe’s Ryder Cup teams, winning three times with the squad.
In 2011, Garcia has top-10 finishes at both the U.S. Open (Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Md.) and British Open (Royal St. George’s, England), and tied for 12th at the PGA Championship (Atlanta Athletic Club, Johns Creek, Ga.).
Revolutionsoccer.net will have full coverage of Garcia’s visit to the Revs’ training session, so check back on Wednesday afternoon for more details.
