FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution Under-18s played their third and final game of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Showcase on Monday, earning a 2-2 draw against Internationals. With the result, the U18s finished the event with a 1-1-1 record.
New England took control of the game early on, striking first in the fifth minute. Bryan DaSilva (Milford, Mass.) played Fabio Machado, Jr. (Leominster, Mass.), who fired a shot across the Internationals’ goalkeeper and inside the far post. Machado’s Showcase output totaled two goals and four assists.
The Revs continued to create chances throughout the first half, but a 29th minute own goal leveled the score before halftime. A second own goal in the 73rd minute against the run of play then handed Internationals the lead.
Still on the front foot, New England pushed for the equalizer. The goal finally came for the Revs in the 75th minute, when Cole DeNormandie’s (Lincoln, Mass.) shot was deflected and Cameron Bielski (Dover, Mass.) connected with it out in front, burying the ball in the back of the net to make it 2-2.
The Under-16s play their final game of the Playoffs on Tuesday, June 28, against Pateadores at 12 p.m. ET. With a result, the young Revs – currently 1-1-0 in the event – could possibly qualify for Finals Week in Milwaukee, Wis., in July by a number of permutations based on the outcomes of other games within the group.
