U18s Warm up before postseason showcase match

FRISCO, Texas – The New England Revolution’s Under-18 team played its first game of the U.S. Soccer Development Showcase today, coming back from a two-goal deficit to earn a 3-2 victory against the Clearwater Chargers at Pizza Hut Park.

Early mental lapses sent the U18s into halftime facing a two-goal deficit, but a re-energized Revolution squad began staging a comeback early in the second half. The Revs earned a corner kick in the 53rd minute, taken by Fabio Machado, Jr. (Leominster, Mass.). Sean MacDonald (Candia, N.H.) got a head on the service at the far post and found the back of the net to make it 2-1. Tanor Jobe (Uxbridge, Mass.) then entered the match as a substitute in the 64th minute and made a near immediate impact. Again assisted by Machado, Jobe fired a left-footed shot past the Clearwater goalkeeper to level the score in the 69th minute.

Despite temperatures in the high 90s, the Revs continued to apply pressure throughout the final 20 minutes. Cole DeNormandie (Lincoln, Mass.) received the ball out in front of the goal from Machado – who earned his third assist on the day – and slotted it home for the game-winner in the 78th minute.

The Under-18s will next play Shattuck-Saint Mary's tomorrow, Saturday, June 25, at 10 a.m. ET. Following that, the Under-16s will take on North Carolina Fusion at 12 p.m. ET in their first game of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs.
