Reserves claim 3-2 win at Toronto

Diego Fagundez

TORONTO – Ryan Guy scored the game-winning goal in the 86th minute and added one assist to help the New England Revolution reserves score a 3-2 win in Toronto against the Toronto FC reserves on Tuesday morning. Guy was making his first appearance with the Revolution reserves after getting a 19-minute appearance last Saturday with the first team against Chicago, just four days after joining New England.

Revolution Under-16 player Dominik Machado leveled the score in the 39th minute and Otto Loewy gave the Revs a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute, but Demitrius Omphroy scored his second of the game three minutes later to equalize.

Revs Home Grown midfielder Diego Fagundez recorded three assists on the day, with his third assist of the afternoon, off a corner kick, proving to be the decisive move as his low service found Guy for the game-winning goal.

Omphroy scored his first goal in the 33rd minute, giving the Toronto reserves a temporary 1-0 lead before Machado struck for the Revs.

With the win, the Revolution reserves improved to 2-2-1 (7 pts.), while Toronto fell to 0-2-1 (1 pt.). New England next plays on Monday, July 18, when they host the Philadelphia reserves.
