Revs call up five from youth teams

Diego Fagundez

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution has called up five players from the team’s Under-18 and Under-16 squads for the team’s MLS Reserve Division match against D.C. United on Saturday, March 26. The following players will be called up:

  • U16 forward Yannick Kabala (Manchester, N.H.)
  • U16 midfielder Dominik Machado (Attleboro, Mass.)
  • U18 forward Fabio Machado, Jr. (Leominster, Mass.)
  • U18 midfielder/forward Michael Rincon (Malden, Mass.)
  • U16 defender Mitch Taintor (Storrs, Conn.)

Additionally, Home Grown player Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) has also been called up to the reserve team after spending the winter and spring with the club’s youth squads. This will mark his first experience with the senior team after training exclusively with the youth program so far in 2011.

The five youth players are expected to see action along with current members of the Revolution in the match and will play against players from D.C. United. By playing with professionals, they will not be jeopardizing their collegiate eligibility because of a recent NCAA rule change for soccer players.

Saturday night’s Reserve Division match is closed to the public, and will immediately follow the Revolution-United match at 4:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.
