FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Under-16s and Under-18s each played two matches at home on Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13, going a combined 1-2-1 against PA Classics and FC Delco. Homegrown player Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) factored into every Revolution goal scored during his time on the field, registering two goals and three assists.

The U18s came away with a 4-3 win in a high-scoring matchup against PA Classics on Saturday, before dropping a 3-2 decision to FC Delco on Sunday. The Revs gave up an early goal in their first game of the weekend, but Fagundez leveled the score within six minutes. Fagundez scored once more in the 30th minute, and then assisted both of Fabio Machado, Jr.’s (Leominster, Mass.) goals. The visitors scored twice in the closing minutes of the match, but the Revolution’s offensive efforts had secured the full three points.

Two early FC Delco goals put the Under-18s in a hole for much of the first half on Sunday, but just as they had during the previous day, the Revs staged a comeback. Daniel Chmura (Wilbraham, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season in the 28th minute, getting a head on Felipe Fagundes’ (Lowell, Mass) free kick. Just before halftime, Machado was brought down in the box, earning the Revolution a penalty kick. Fagundes converted and the game was tied going into the break. Despite several chances in the second half, FC Delco’s 56th minute goal went unanswered and the visitors earned their second win of the season.

Coming off of a winning effort last weekend in their spring openers, the Revolution Under-16s suffered their first home loss of the season to PA Classics on Saturday before drawing FC Delco 1-1 on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, the Revs conceded two goals in the opening minutes of the second against PA Classics. New England was unable to find the back of the net, despite a strong showing by forward Matt Bitchell (Byfield, Mass.). Other notable performers included defenders Will Szostkiewicz (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Mitchell Taintor (Storrs, Conn.).

The Revolution U16s played FC Delco to a 1-1 tie on Sunday, with both goals again coming in the second half. The Revs struck first, when Jack Hilger (Hopkinton, Mass.) – assisted by Fagundez – drove a shot past the FC Delco goalkeeper in the 47th minute. The away team scored just a few minutes later, and the result held through to the final whistle.

With a win and a loss, the Revolution Under-18 team now holds a 4-5-0 record on the season. A loss and a tie saw the Under-16s slip to second place in the Northeast Division with a 4-3-2 record. Both teams are home at Gillette Stadium again next weekend, where they will host Potomac on Saturday, March 19, and Baltimore Bays Chelsea on Sunday, March 20.
