TEAM NOTES

Current Preseason Roster (Feb. 20, 2011)


The Revolution currently has 27 players on its preseason roster – 18 players under contract and nine non-contracted players … the team now has 25 players in camp, with two players back in Boston for the duration of the Orlando trip.

Conference Call on Wednesday

The second of two conference calls from Orlando for regional and national media has been scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23 … head coach Steve Nicol, goalkeeper Matt Reis and midfielder Chris Tierney will be available on the call … details for the conference call will be distributed later this week to members of the media.


Revs Add Defender Coria

The Revs signed Argentine defender Franco Coria, 22, on Thursday, Feb. 17 …Coria joins the Revs from Argentina’s Chacarita Juniors, where he was primarily a reserve player for the club during the last four seasons … Coria made 18 appearances for Chacarita’s first team during his tenure, including eight in Argentina’s Primera Division during the 2009-10 season … Coria is the fourth new addition to the Revs’ defense since the end of the 2010 season… he will join the team once he has secured his U.S. P-1 Visa. .


Friday Night Lights: A UCF Win

The Revs earned a 2-0 win over the University of Central Florida on Friday night, using goals from unsigned rookie Ryan Kinne and Shalrie Joseph to gain the victory in the team’s first preseason match of 2011 … the Revs used a first-choice lineup from available players for the first 60 minutes of the match, before substituting eight field players in the 61st minute … rookie A.J. Soares played all 90 minutes at center back, while Zak Boggs played 78 minutes at right back after Kevin Alston came off the field with a leg injury in the 10th minute … three goalkeepers – Matt Reis, Bobby Shuttleworth and Tim Murray – each played approximately 30 minutes in the shutout.


Something Old and Something New

In its 2-0 win over Central Florida on Friday, Feb. 18, the Revolution received goals from both a familiar face in Shalrie Joseph and a new one in unsigned rookie Ryan Kinne … Kinne earned the start on the right wing, scoring the eventual game-winner on a volley off a rebound in the 36th minute … Joseph added an insurance goal in the 61st minute, finishing Chris Tierney’s free kick.

Fred Headed Back to D.C.

On Friday, Feb. 18, the Revs traded their rights to Brazilian midfielder Fred to D.C. United in exchange for United’s natural second-round selection in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft … the Revs claimed Fred’s rights in Stage Two of the 2010 Re-Entry Process … Fred began his MLS career with D.C. in 2007, playing three seasons in Washington before D.C. traded him to Philadelphia in January 2010.


Two Games Included in FSC’s Schedule

Two Revs matches were among the 29-match regular-season broadcast schedule announced by MLS and Fox Soccer Channel on Friday, Feb. 18 … New England’s June 11 match at New York was re-scheduled for Friday, June 10, and will now kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET, live on FSC … additionally, the Revs’ Sept. 16 match at expansion side Portland will now kick off 30 minutes later – at 11 p.m. ET – and will be televised live by FSC … the team’s complete schedule, including broadcasters, can be accessed at the team’s website here.


Individual Tickets on Sale Saturday

Individual game tickets to 2011 Revolution matches will go on sale on Saturday, Feb. 26, beginning at 10 a.m. ... tickets purchased in advance start at $20 for The Fort, and $21 for corner seats … the 2011 season marks the first season in Gillette Stadium history that both the East and West sides of the stadium will be seated for Revolution regular-season matches … for more information or to purchase tickets, call 1-877-GET-REVS or visit revolutionsoccer.net on Saturday.


Atlanta Itinerary & Game Schedule

Following a three-day training stint in Foxborough, the Revs will depart for the Atlanta area on Thursday, March 3, and return to Boston late on Sunday, March 13 … the club will play three preseason matches during the trip, including two games as part of the inaugural Atlanta MLS Challenge in Kennesaw, Ga. … the first match, against the Columbus Crew, will be played on Sunday, March 6, at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., about a two-hour drive from Kennesaw … the teams will meet again on Wednesday, March 9, in the first game of the three-team round-robin tournament, followed by a closing match against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday, March 13.
