FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution Under-16 midfielder Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass.) has been called up to the U.S. Under-15 Boys National Team, which is currently conducting a training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., through Oct. 31. He is joined by Revolution Under-16 head coach Bryan Scales, who is also attending the camp as one of the team’s coaches.
“This is a great opportunity for Declan and we are proud of him,” Scales said. “He was involved with the Under-14 Boys National Team last year, and we look forward to his continued development throughout the Revs’ Academy season."
Additionally, McCabe and Revolution Under-16 teammates Kevin Herrera (Lynn, Mass.) and Danny Apajee (Cranston, R.I.) have been selected to attend the U.S. Soccer Training Center that will be held on Nov. 5, at Oakwood Soccer Park in Portland, Conn.
"These U.S. Soccer Training Centers are a terrific opportunity for players to be evaluated by the U.S. National Team staff,” Scales said. “We are thrilled that three of our players were selected and know that they will make a great account of themselves at this event."
The 2010-11 Revolution youth teams will begin formal training later this fall at the conclusion of the New England high school soccer season. The clubs will begin play in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy in mid-November, and will attend the Development Academy’s Winter Showcase in Phoenix on Dec. 3-7.
