FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution midfielder Shalrie Joseph is among the five nominees for the 2010 ESPY Award for Best MLS Player, ESPN announced today on its website. Joseph joins fellow nominees Jeff Cunningham (FC Dallas), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Kasey Keller (Seattle Sounders FC) and Conor Casey (Colorado Rapids) as finalists for the annual award. This is Joseph’s first ESPY nomination.
The 2010 ESPY Awards will take place on Wednesday, July 14, at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater where Seth Meyers will serve as the show’s host. ESPN will televise the awards show live at 9 p.m. ET.

In 2009, Joseph was one of three finalists for the MLS Most Valuable Player award after recording a career-high eight goals and eight assists. One of the game’s most dominating central midfielders, Joseph moved forward to play striker after a rash of injuries hit the Revs. As the captain, Joseph’s late-season performance was largely credited with helping push the Revs into the MLS Cup Playoffs.
