FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution Youth Development Academy has had two players selected to the U.S. Under-15 Boy's National Team pool that convenes in New Jersey for a week-long training and evaluation camp beginning on Monday, June 14. Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) and Christian Sady (North Andover, Mass.) are the youngest players in the Revolution player development program, but are two of the most talented. They have impressed scouts and coaches enough to have a chance to join the national team.
“Despite their youth relative to teammates, Diego and Christian have started and played consistently for us all season. Now they are being rewarded for their efforts,” cited Karl Edmonds, Director of Youth Development for the New England Revolution.
Fagundez will travel to New Jersey for his first national training camp, while Sady has been selected to his second national player pool. Sady, who has been a stalwart for the youth Revs at left back this season, also played with the national team last year, trained with the club in Florida this March and played a match in Argentina last month. Fagundez, who plays withdrawn forward for the U16s and is one of the club’s top scorers, finished the regular season with 19 goals in 27 games played.
The camp, which will be held from June 14-20 at the Player Development Academy in Zarephath, N.J., features 48 total players from around the country who will compete for roster spots for the 2010-11 season.
Both of the New England Revolution Youth Academy teams have qualified for the playoffs this year and will travel to Greensborough, N.C., later this month to compete for a spot in July’s national championships.
