Revs Academy Update: April 29, 2010

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution youth teams picked up two wins last weekend as they hosted the Greater Boston Bolts Saturday afternoon at Gillette Stadium. The U16s came from behind to win by a final score of 4-3 while the U18s defeated the Bolts by a score of 2-1.


The U16s scored twice late in the second half of their match to earn a one-goal victory over local rival, Greater Boston. The Revs were down 2-0 in the first half when Cole Denormandie (Lincoln, Mass.) scored in the 33rd minute, assisted by Forest Sisk (Sudbury, Mass.). The Bolts scored once more in the first half to go up by two before Diego Fagundez (Leominster, Mass.) added a goal to begin the second half in the 41st minute. Trailing by one goal in the 69th minute, Felix DeBona (Everett, Mass.) tallied to tie the score at three. Mitchell Taintor (Storrs, Conn.) assisted on the tying goal before going on to score the game-winner in added injury time, assisted by Christian Sady (North Andover, Mass.) and escape with a dramatic 4-3 come-from-behind victory.


The U18s started strong by going up 1-0 when Michael Rincon (Malden, Mass.) assisted on a goal by Jonni Ventura (Westminster, Mass.) in the 13th minute. The U18s went up 2-0 in the second half on another goal by Ventura in the 65th minute, this time assisted by Homero Morais (Somerville, Mass.). The Bolts scored once in the 85th minute to get within a goal, but the U18s held on to win by a final score of 2-1.


The Revolution’s Under-16 and Under-18 youth teams travel to Durfee High School in Fall River, Mass. on Saturday, May 1, where they will both face Potomac. On Sunday, May 2, both teams will be at Adelphi University, N.Y., where they will meet Albertson SC.
