The New England Revolution athletic training staff released the Tuesday injury report this morning before departing for Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup play-in match against the New York Red Bulls. With the team only able to travel 14 players to New York - and only 16 to Columbus last weekend - the list has grown by two players this week.
NE Injury Report - May 11, 2010
QUESTIONABLE: Kevin Alston (R hamstring Strain), Cory Gibbs (R quadriceps strain), Edgaras Jankauskas (R hamstring strain)
OUT: Darrius Barnes (R midfoot sprain), Emmanuel Osei (R leg infection), Matt Reis (L shoulder/L knee surgeries), Taylor Twellman (concussion), Mike Videira (L ankle Os Trigonum)
Kevin Alston and Edgaras Jankauskas remain QUESTIONABLE with their respective hamstring injuries, while Cory Gibbs, who played the full 90 minutes on Saturday after being listed as PROBABLE on last Friday’s injury report, has been downgraded to QUESTIONABLE with the same injury.
Also added to the list this week is Darrius Barnes, who got caught up with Preston Burpo late in the Columbus game, but stayed in for almost the whole game before being subbed off in stoppage time. He has been diagnosed with a sprain in the midfoot of his right foot. He joins Emmanuel Osei, Matt Reis, Taylor Twellman and Mike Videira as OUT on this injury report.
Osei continues to remain away from the team while the infection in his leg heals, while Reis and Twellman are at Gillette Stadium daily to receive treatment and continue their workouts. Videira, who missed last week, remains out, as well, with his ankle injury.
