Career Summary

How Acquired: Signed by the Revolution on March 5, 2015

2014: Spent the 2014 MLS season with Chivas USA, making one appearance after signing with the club in March. Spangenberg made his MLS debut on May 3, playing the final 22 minutes of a home loss to Houston after starting goalkeeper Tim Melia was sent off. He made one save in his time on the field while conceding one goal, which came from the penalty kick that followed Melia’s foul and ejection.

CLUB CAREER OUTSIDE OF MLS
Spangenberg was twice loaned to the USL’s Richmond Kickers, recording a shutout in his debut on April 25 away to FC Montreal, making nine saves in a 1-0 Kickers win. He was sent back to Richmond a week later, making three saves in a 2-2 draw with Charleston that extended Richmond’s unbeaten streak to open the season to six games.

COLLEGE
Spangenberg made 38 appearances in his college career at Missouri State, starting all but one of those games. He finished his career with a 20-13-4 record and 17 clean sheets, leaving school with a record 0.67 goals against average. As a senior in 2013, Spangenberg tied a school record with 11 shutouts, including seven in a row to help lead his side to the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship. He allowed just eight goals in 18 games that season, registering a school record 0.41 goals against average and earning All-Missouri Valley Conference honors. He had missed his junior season because of an injury, but as a sophomore in 2011, Spangenberg went 9-8-2 with a 0.93 goals against average and six shutouts, including one against No. 4 Creighton, giving the Bears their first win ever over a top-five opponent.
