A talented striker with a nose for goal … is deceptively quick and uses his size and length to good advantage on the attack … has long strides that help create distance between him and a defender … very efficient in the penalty area … a left-footed player … can also play out wide on the wing if needed … his 11 goals in 2012 marked the first time since 2007 a Revolution player scored double-digit goals in a season … with his bleach-blonde fauxhawk, Sene instantly became a fan favorite at Gillette Stadium … a league newcomer, his jersey was the league’s 24th-highest selling jersey in 2012 … holds dual citizenship in France, where he was born while his father Oumar played with Paris Saint-Germain, and Senegal, his family’s native country … native language is French, but also speaks German fluently while growing more comfortable with English.

2012: Made 25 regular-season appearances, including 23 starts (20 at forward and three at right wing) before suffering a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee on Aug. 29. Had surgery to reconstruct his ACL on Sept. 17. Scored a team-high 11 goals and recorded three assists. At the time of his injury, was tied for fourth in MLS in goals and fifth in shots (75). Finished the season ranked sixth in the 2012 MLS Castrol Index, and was the highest-scoring MLS newcomer on the season. Missed the season opener at San Jose (March 10) with left knee swelling but made his Revolution – and MLS – debut at Kansas City (March 17). His first career goal - scored in the first minute (28 seconds) on a header against Portland (March 24) – tied the Gillette Stadium record for the fastest goal scored, and was the eighth-fastest goal in MLS history. Scored his second goal of the season – also a header – at LA (March 31). Recorded his first career assist on Jose Moreno’s sixth-minute goal against D.C. (April 14). Scored five goals and added one assist in the month of May. Recorded the game-tying goal – and the game-winning assist on Fernando Cardenas’ goal – against Colorado (May 2). Scored one goal against Vancouver (May 12), and scored two goals -- including a penalty kick goal -- against Houston (May 19). Scored in a third consecutive game with his seventh goal of the season at D.C. (May 26). His eighth goal of the year came against Seattle (June 30), snapping a three-game scoreless skid. Made his first start of the year at right wing at Montreal (July 18). Scored his ninth goal of the year from distance in a start at right wing at Philadelphia (July 29) and his goal won MLS AT&T Goal of the Week for Week 20. Recorded his third assist of the season on Ryan Guy’s goal at Columbus (Aug. 25). Scored two goals against Chivas USA (Aug. 29.), becoming the first Revolution player since Taylor Twellman in 2007 to score 10 goals in a season, but then left the game with what became a season-ending ACL tear in his left knee.

BEFORE MLS: Came to the Revolution from Bayern Munich, where he spent two-and-a-half years playing for the German power’s reserve team, Bayern Munich II, which competes in lower levels of Germany’s professional system … in 55 appearances with Bayern Munich II between 2009 and 2011, scored 19 goals and added three assists … included in his reserve-team totals was an 11-goal, two-assist effort during the 2009-10 season … missed most of the 2010-11 season because of injury, which limited him to two games … scored eight goals and added one assist in 16 matches in the first half of the 2011-12 season … in addition to his play with Bayern Munich’s reserve squad, he was called-up to Bayern Munich’s senior team several times: for the inaugural Audi Cup in 2009 against AC Milan and for preliminary matches in the 2009-10 UEFA Champions League … played with SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, a regional professional soccer team based in Aspach, before Bayern Munich purchased him … made 52 appearances for SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, scoring 26 goals and adding three assists … spent 2005 with FC E’tampes, a local-level training club, after beginning his pro career in Paris Saint-Germain’s youth program.

PERSONAL: Son of Oumar Sene and Merry Diallo … loves movies, Playstation and shopping … lists meeting fellow countryman Thierry Henry during the 2012 Desert Diamond Cup as his favorite soccer memory … favorite vacation spot is Senegal with his extended family … follows Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint Germaine … speaks French, German and an African tribal language … enjoys volunteering with children and at hospitals … his father, Oumar, is a former international midfielder for the Senegal National Team, appearing in the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations before he retired from professional soccer later that year … Oumar made 197 appearances with Paris Saint-Germain (1985-1992) and 109 appearances with Laval (1980-1985) after beginning his professional career in Senegal with US Goree (1978-1980).
