2012: Made nine appearances at right back, including seven starts , before suffering a season-ending MCL sprain against New York (Sept. 22). Recorded one assist. Made his Revolution – and MLS – debuts at LA (March 31) as a halftime substitute. Made his first career start at right back at Dallas (April 5). Missed nine games from May 14 to June 16 with a fifth metatarsal fracture suffered in training. Returned to action as a substitute at Toronto (June 23), recording his first career assist on Chris Tierney’s 94th-minute equalizer. Returned to the starting lineup at right back against Kansas City (Aug. 4), playing 45 minutes before coming off at the half. Returned to the starting lineup at right back against Philadelphia (Sept. 1) and started four straight games there before suffering a season-ending MCL sprain against New York (Sept 22). Also made three starts (two at right back, one at center back) in MLS Reserve League action, in which he also recorded one assist. Started at right back in the match against Columbus’ reserves (June 17), his first action since April 5. BEFORE MLS: Most recently played for Bundesliga 2 (second-division) club Karlsruher SC, where he made 12 league appearances and two starts in the DFB Cup in the second half of 2011 … previously played the bulk of his professional career with FC St. Pauli, where he made more than 100 appearances since 2004 … helped St. Pauli gain repeated promotion from the third division of German soccer all the way to the Bundesliga for the 2010-11 season … began his professional career with VfB Stuttgart … he was part of VfB Stuttgart’s academy program before joining the club’s affiliated reserve team, VfB Stuttgart II, permanently in 2001 … made more than 60 appearances with Stuttgart II between the 1999-2000 and 2003-2004 seasons before moving to St. Pauli in the summer of 2004.
