It's safe to say that Carles Gil is back.

After scoring the New England Revolution's lone goal in their 1-1 draw with New York City FC in his return to the starting XI on April 1, Gil did himself one better this past weekend, registering one goal and one assist in the Revs' 4-0 demolition of visiting CF Montréal. That performance earned the Revs' captain a place on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi.

Gil started the night by picking up a secondary assist on Dylan Borrero's golazo, which went down as the eventual game winner. It was the 51st assist of Gil's MLS career, as he passed Lee Nguyen (50) for second place in club history, trailing only the legendary Steve Ralston (73).

New England's chief playmaker then turned goal scorer, converting from the penalty spot to push the Revolution's lead to 2-0 just before halftime. It was Gil's first goal-and-assist performance since May 1, 2021.

The win pushed the Revs to 5-1-1 (16 pts.), just one point off the top of both the Eastern Conference and the Supporters' Shield standings as we approach the quarter mark of the season. They'll be back in action on Saturday night when they visit the Columbus Crew at Lower.com Field, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app. Local radio coverage will be available in English on 98.5 The Sports Hub, and in Portuguese on 1260 AM Nossa Radio.
