Revs open up international roster slot for recently-signed Emmanuel Osei
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution announced today that the club has waived Costa Rican forward Argenis Fernandez. With his departure, the team has opened an international roster spot, which will be filled by recently-signed Ghanaian defender Emmanuel Osei once his International Transfer Certificate is received.
Fernandez, 22, was signed by the Revolution on March 11, 2008, after playing his entire professional career with Santos de Guapiles of Costa Rica’s Primera Division. He was loaned by the Revs to Costa Rican power LD Alajuelense on July 2, 2008, where he spent the remainder of the 2008 calendar year. Fernandez made two substitute appearances for the Revs before being loaned out, and then made 12 total appearances and scored two goals for Alajuelense.
After a bye this weekend, the Revolution (2-0-1, 7 pts.) returns to action on Friday, April 17, when the club travels to play rival D.C. United at RFK Stadium at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.
