FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution today announced that three players - forward/midfielder Spencer Wadsworth, forward Kheli Dube and defender Sam Brill - have all signed contracts with Major League Soccer and will be members of the Revs' 2008 developmental roster. Per team and league policies, terms of the deals were not released. Dube will be unavailable for gameday selection while awaiting his U.S. P-1 Visa. All three players were acquired through different means, with Wadsworth coming via the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, Dube through the 2008 MLS Supplemental Draft and Brill by way of a trial. "These three players are talented and will add depth to our squad," Revolution Director of Soccer Michael Burns said. "Through the preseason they've shown the skill and desire to perform at the professional level and we look forward to them developing in our system." Wadsworth, 21, was the Revs' final SuperDraft selection in 2008, taken in the fourth round with the 55th overall selection out of Duke. He played in 20 games in 2007, recording two goals and adding one assist, while seeing limited action because of off-season foot surgery. In his Duke career, Wadsworth played in 86 games and scored 25 goals while adding 34 assists. In 2006, he led the nation in assists with 14. Mkhokheli "Kheli" Dube, 24, whom the Revolution acquired with the eighth overall selection in the first round of the Supplemental Draft, was the Big South Player of the Year in 2007 while attending Coastal Carolina. The 6-foot-1, 155-pound Zimbabwe native scored 11 goals as a senior, while adding five assists, as the Chanticleers finished atop the Big South standings with a perfect 6-0-0 record. Before his two-year stint at Coastal Carolina, Dube transferred from NAIA powerhouse Lindsey Wilson. He is also a former member of Zimbabwe's Under-17, Under-20 and Under-23 squads. Brill, 22, joined New England as a trialist this preseason. A Newton, Mass., native and a graduate of Newton North High School, Brill was a four-year starter for the Boston College men's soccer team, graduating in 2007. As a senior, he started along the back line in all 17 of the Eagles' games, anchoring a defense that allowed just 24 goals all season for a 1.33 goals against average. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound back also showed some attacking prowess, scoring three goals and adding two assists. For his career, Brill had six goals and three assists in 63 appearances (58 starts). A co-captain during his junior year at Boston College, Brill earned All-Big East second-team honors as a sophomore, and has also trained with the U.S. Under-18 team. The Revolution begins the 2008 season at 7:30 p.m. on March 29 when the team hosts the Houston Dynamo at Gillette Stadium in a rematch of MLS Cup 2007. Fox Soccer Channel will televise the game nationally. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit revolutionsoccer.net or call 1-877-GET-REVS.
