This weekend, D.C. United visits Gillette Stadium at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 17 for the second of four meetings this season between the two clubs.

The Revs will look to sustain its attack against the league’s top defensive unit as United arrives in town with the best record in MLS.

The match will be broadcast live on FSN, and will be carried by WEEI 850 AM (English) and WJDA 1300 AM (Spanish). Fans can also listen to a live stream of the match on RevolutionSoccer.net.

Prior to Saturday’s game, the Gillette Stadium gates will open at 2:30 p.m. for a special public viewing of the U.S.- Italy World Cup match in the stadium. Additionally, head coach Steve Nicol, assistant coach Paul Mariner and director of soccer Mike Burns will participate in a special live halftime special, hosted by Revs broadcaster Brad Feldman and produced by Kraft Sports Productions, which will also be shown throughout the stadium.

Last weekend, the Revolution (3-4-3, 12 pts.) showed impressive attacking strength late in the game, scoring in the 87th minute and then twice more during stoppage time. Despite the pressure produced by the enthusiastic hometown crowd present for the Fire’s unofficial home opener in their new soccer specific stadium, Toyota Park, New England fought valiantly with a level of effort that would have won most games, dominating the second half.

Down 2-0 after goals by Fire forward Nate Jaqua in the 39th and 79th minutes, Revs’ forward Taylor Twellman headed a pass from midfielder Tony Lochhead past Fire keeper Zach Thornton, cutting the Chicago lead to one goal.

Fire forward Calen Carr appeared to put the game away with his first career goal in the first minute of stoppage time, but New England’s attack would not yield. Three minutes into stoppage time, midfielder Steve Ralston netted a ball from Andy Dorman to close the deficit to one goal. Less than a minute later, Dorman scored one of his own to complete the comeback, tying the game off of a pass from rookie Kyle Brown and Jeff Larentowicz, the first assists of their respective MLS careers.

Earlier in the match, Dorman appeared to have slid a rebound of a Taylor Twellman shot past Thornton in the 72nd minute, but the goal was disallowed when the Revs’ midfielder was ruled offside.

During the game, Revs’ defender Joe Franchino joined the Revs’ growing injury list, replaced by Brown in the game’s 82nd minute, after Jaqua caught Franchino’s ankle with the bottom of his foot while in the act of scoring the Fire’s second goal. Franchino is listed as doubtful on this week’s injury report with a right ankle sprain.

The Revolution has 10 players currently injured;13 members of the team have missed at least one game because of injury this season.

D.C. (7-1-4, 25 pts.) comes to town off of a 1-1 draw against the Los Angeles Galaxy, a match in which they were held to only seven shots. United midfielder Christian Gomez scored his fourth goal of the season in the 21st minute and later earned MLS Sierra Mist Goal of the Week honors for the goal.

United enters the weekend with  the best record in MLS, with 25 points in the standings – eight points better than second-place Kansas City. D.C. has scored a league-leading 25 goals in its 12 contests while holding their opponents to a stingy 11 goals.

The Revolution visited D.C. on June 3, falling to the United 1-0 in a match that could have gone either way. New England surrendered the game’s only goal to United forward Jamie Moreno in the 14th minute.

Historically, United has had the edge in match-ups between the two teams, holding a 22-16-3 record all-time against New England, but the Revolution has fared better at home against D.C. with an 11-8-1 record in Foxborough. Last year, New England won three of four contests against United, taking the match on April 23 at RFK Stadium (4-3), as well as matches on May 14 (1-0) and August 27 (2-1) at Gillette Stadium. The Revs lost 2-0 at RFK Stadium on June 18.
