Revs will either host GPS Portland Phoenix (PDL) at Harvard, or travel to play Rochester Rhinos

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution will begin play in the 2013 U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday, May 28, when the team enters the bracket in the third round with the rest of the U.S.-based Major League Soccer teams. The Revolution will face the winner of the GPS Portland Phoenix (PDL) – Rochester Rhinos (USL PRO) second-round match, which will be played next Tuesday, May 21, in Rochester, N.Y.

Should the Portland Phoenix upset Rochester, the Revolution would host Portland at Harvard University on Tuesday, May 28. Kickoff would be set for 7:30 p.m. Should the Rhinos top Portland, the Revolution will travel to Rochester for their third-round match against their USL PRO affiliate club on Tuesday, May 28, with kickoff set for 7:35 p.m. The locations of the third-round match-ups were determined by a random selection process conducted by U.S. Soccer officials.

The Revolution is the 2007 U.S. Open Cup champion, a title that was the club’s first-ever cup tournament title. New England defeated FC Dallas, 3-2, in Frisco, Texas, on Oct. 3, 2007, to win the 2007 title. The Revs have an 11-10-4 all-time record in U.S. Open Cup matches.
