Bilello named one of BBJ’s “40 Under 40”
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – New England Revolution president Brian Bilello has been honored as of one of Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” for 2012, which the publication announced on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Bilello, 37, is the only executive from Boston’s sports industry among this year’s honorees. The full list of the Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” recipients is available HERE.
Bilello was elevated to Revolution club president on November 9, 2011, after serving as the team’s Chief Operating Officer since April 2006. He has been with the Kraft Sports Group since 2003 in a variety of operational and strategic capacities, and advised the Kraft family on a host of sports business ventures.
In his current role as the Revolution’s president, Bilello oversees the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of all aspects of the club: soccer operations, broadcasting, business development, communications, community involvement, fan relations, marketing, special events, ticket sales and youth development. He reports directly to the Kraft family and represents the club on Major League Soccer’s Board of Governors.

Under Bilello’s leadership, the Revs are also pursuing a new soccer stadium in the Boston area, and are continually creating and expanding engagement opportunities with fans and supporters. Bilello’s efforts have resulted in an immediate payoff as ticket sales, corporate sponsorships and online engagement are all tracking at levels higher than recent seasons.
As the Revolution’s COO, Bilello expanded all of the Revolution’s business departments, oversaw the integration of the team’s first-ever jersey sponsor, UnitedHealthcare, and launched a dedicated ticket sales service group that won the MLS Presidents Award in 2011 for season-ticket holder renewal rates.

Bilello is the first Revolution executive to be recognized by the Boston Business Journal, and the second from the Kraft Sports Group. Previously, Jennifer Ferron, senior vice president of marketing and brand development, was named to the publication’s annual “40 Under 40” list in 2005.
The Revolution hosts the Columbus Crew tonight at Gillette Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m., and the match will be televised regionally on Comcast Sports Net. 98.5 The Sports Hub’s HD2 station will also carry the game on the radio.
