Youth Playoffs: Day four notes

U16s suffer first playoff loss; U18s have the day off

With only one 8 p.m. game today, day four of the trip broke up the usual routine.

The players were able to sleep in for a bit this morning, and ate breakfast in the hotel at their leisure. Much of the afternoon was then off.

At 3 p.m., the U18s were required to attend an off-field session with U.S. Soccer for Showcase players, while the coaches had a concurrent meeting about the 2011-12 season.

Both teams boarded the bus at 4:45 for a pregame meal following that, reported back to the hotel for an hour-long period of rest.

The U16s left for Pizza Hut Park after 6:30, while the U18s arrived just before kickoff to support their teammates. You can read about the Revs’ second playoff game against Texas Rush AJ Auxerre, a 2-1 loss, in today’s youth postseason update.

After the match, the teams jumped back on the bus and returned to the hotel for postgame pizza.

Tomorrow, the Under-18s will play Internationals in their third game of the Showcase at 9 a.m. local time. The Under-16s are off, and will play their final game of the Playoffs on Tuesday, June 28, against Pateadores at 11 a.m.
