Preseason loss, back up keepers, advertising

The Revs and Crew met again last night in a rematch of Sunday’s exhibition game during which New England defeated Columbus, 2-1. The second time around had a different outcome, and New England Soccer Today, NECN, New England Soccer News and ESPN Boston’s blog all have details about the Revs’ first loss.

The Revs were undefeated in preseason play until their second meeting with the Columbus Crew. The Revolution fell 3-1, and Revs Press makes note of the several defensive players who were forced to watch from the sidelines due to injury.

Revs Press’ Julian Cardillo zones in on the goalkeeper position for the Revs, and inquires about the futures of back-up keepers, Bobby Shuttleworth and Tim Murray.

The link between Boston and Italy seems to be growing stronger as a Boston group shows interests in purchasing a Serie A club.

Revolution players have been spotted on the streets of Boston …on billboards. The Drug is Football discusses the attention-grabbing advertisements and tells fans where they can find them.

As Andy Huffman for Football Boston writes, social networking sites and recent marketing efforts are bringing the Revs closer to fans than ever.

The second part of Shin Guardian’s MLS 2011 Season Predictions lists its winners for awards such as best keeper, most underrated player and best ratio of worst haircut to most skilled.
