Revs trades rights to Fred to D.C. United

Revolution will receive draft pick in 2013 SuperDraft

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Revolution and D.C. United today executed a trade that has sent the Revolution’s rights to midfielder Fred to D.C. in exchange for United’s natural second-round selection in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.

The Revolution selected Fred in Stage Two of the 2010 MLS Re-Entry Draft. The Brazilian midfielder played the 2010 season with Philadelphia after starting his MLS career with D.C. in 2007, where he played three seasons. D.C. United traded Fred, the seventh overall selection in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft and allocation monies to Philadelphia on Jan. 13, 2010, in exchange for allocation order considerations.

The Revs are currently in Orlando for an 11-day training trip, and are scheduled to play three training matches – against the University of Central Florida on Feb. 18, the U.S. Under-17 National Team on Feb. 21 and FC Dallas on Feb. 23 – during their stay. For up-to-the-minute information on the Revolution, visit the team’s official web site at revolutionsoccer.net, or follow the team on Twitter at @NERevolution, or on Facebook at facebook.com/NERevolution.

United on Saturday, March 26, and three additional stand-alone games, a 2011 Revolution calendar and a choice of one of four exclusive gifts.
