Revs reinforcements arrive in the form of Perovic

Serbian midfielder expected to be on bench for TFC match

A new face brightened up a drizzly New England training
session on the Gillette Stadium turf Friday morning.

Newly acquired midfielder Marko Perovic trained for the
first time at his new home after arriving from Switzerland on Thursday night.
Perovic, 26, spent the past couple of weeks sorting out the required visa
paperwork to gain entrance into the country and secured the necessary clearance
earlier this week in order to link up with the Revs ahead of Saturday night's
home opener against Toronto FC.

The former FC Basel player said he spent his first practice
with his new teammates trying to work out the kinks from his journey across the
Atlantic.

“I flew from Zurich to London yesterday,” Perovic told
MLSsoccer.com on Friday morning. “I waited three hours in London and then flew
seven hours to Boston. I'm a little bit tired. My legs are like four legs, you
know? I want to sprint, but my legs don't want to do that. I must [take] my
time. Also, it's the time [change]. Six hours is a big difference.”

Perovic said he planned to discuss his status for the Reds'
visit with Revolution coach Steve Nicol, but indicated that he could come off
the bench if the circumstances called for his inclusion in the match. Nicol has
said all week that he didn't plan to include Perovic in his starting XI and
reinforced that stance after watching Perovic train on Friday.

“He won't start the game, no, but he'll be on the bench,”
Nicol said.

Whether Perovic climbs off the bench may depend on how much
he recovers over the next 24 hours and how much the Revolution needs a
second-half spark to seal a victory. If Nicol does need to call on Perovic
tomorrow night, the New England boss said the former Serbian youth
international will have only one thing on his mind as he attempts to change the
game.

“He wants to attack and go that way,” Nicol said. “I think
we need a bit more of that. Obviously, if and when he comes on, that's what
he'll give us.”
