If you haven’t yet had a chance to check out the Revolution’s updated preseason roster, I’d suggest you do so here. There were quite a few new faces in camp for the first training session here in Tucson this morning and the roster was necessary even for those of us who’ve been around for the entire preseason.

All told, there are 10 players currently in camp with the Revs who are not under contract with the club, which accounts for approximately one-third of the players in camp. Included in that group are Supplemental Draft picks Alec Purdie, Michael Roach and Rick Smith.

Also traveling with the Revs to Arizona were Blake Brettschneider, Gabe Mercier and Jeremiah White, all of whom had spent time in camp with the Revolution prior to this trip. Joining the club here in Tucson were four fresh faces: Italian midfielder Luisito Campisi, British defender Tom Cruise, German defender Florian Lechner and Swedish forward Bjorn Runstrom.

Last Thursday we held our annual promotional photo/video shoots at Gillette Stadium. It was a whirlwind day, as the players visited three different stations set up throughout the stadium to cover all of the photo and video needs for us creative types to work our magic with. Over the coming weeks and months you'll see the products of the shoots on ads, billboards, TV Broadcasts, wallpapers and more. What you won't see in these media are the photos below.

And as you may have seen on Twitter, A.J. Soares had a camera crew from Comcast SportsNet following him throughout the shoots and that video should surface sometime in the near future on Comcast SportsNet.

Enjoy! Photos by David Silverman.

You're in the shot, dude

"A.J. Soares here, tell us what you think of photo day so far."

"Oh, Hey!"

Uh, can you fix your hair, please? And sit up straight!

"Hey check out my quad!"

The guys made Kelyn laugh. A lot.

"Hey Chris, look what I found out back!"

"How's this?"

"Cut it out, D. You'll pay for this if you keep messing with me..."

...true to his word, Kevin made Darrius laugh so hard he ran off after two photos and had to start over

In case you were wondering, the Revs did not sign former Seattle SuperSonics, Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks center Saer Sene. Different guy.

We were kicking around ideas on how to properly highlight Diego's Valentine's Day birthday here on The Post, and this just seemed fitting. It was either this or  "Seventeen" by Winger, but that song was written over ten years before Diego was born. Feel old yet? I do. Happy Birthday Diego! And to anyone out there who celebrates their birthday on this day of love, happy birthday to you, too.

UPDATE: Matt Reis had his own special way of wishing Diego a happy birthday following today's training session:

A special guest dropped by training on Monday morning; someone who’ll be instantly recognizable to fans of the Revolution circa 1999-2001.

Colombian legend Leonel Alvarez – who had two stints with the Dallas Burn from 1996-99 and a three-year spell with the Revs from 1999-2001 – was in town for an extended weekend visiting old acquaintances and made it a point to attend the Revolution’s training session at the Dana-Farber Field House.

Alvarez paid keen attention to New England’s Colombian duo of Fernando Cardenas and John Lozano, both of whom the former Colombia National Team head coach spoke of very highly. Alvarez called Cardenas “a magician with the ball,” while he praised Lozano’s discipline and winning mentality. An experienced MLSer himself, Alvarez said the objective for Cardenas and Lozano must be to adjust to the league’s fast-paced style and “show that they can play the game.”

If they’re anywhere near as successful as Alvarez – a three-time MLS All-Star – the Revs will be more than pleased.

This is the box score from Bayern Munich’s 4-1 win over AC Milan in the 2009 Audi Cup. Not bad company for the Revolution’s newest signing. Check out the highlights to see Sène score in the 89th minute and help set up Thomas Muller’s second goal just one minute later.

FC Bayern Munich 4 – 1 AC Milan
FCB – Thomas Muller 12
FCB – Bastian Schweinsteiger 79
ACM – Andrea Pirlo 81
FCB – Saër Sène 89
FCB – Thomas Muller 90

If you’ve seen pictures from the Revolution’s training camp in recent weeks, you might’ve noticed that second-year center back A.J. Soares saved some money this offseason by opting to stay away from the barber. In a typical West Coast style true to his roots, Soares appears to be letting the hair flow in 2012.

With these recent developments, we here at The Far Post have been left wondering if A.J. is on his way back to his Cal days, when he rocked a hairdo so luxurious it would’ve made David Beckham jealous.

Supporters and fans:

Thank you for your continued patience as we work through the situation with Jose Moreno.

Both myself and the club have received numerous questions about the situation in the last 48 hours, and I wanted to offer a longer explanation than 140 characters or a Facebook post could relay since we understand that it seems like radio silence from us on the matter.

Like many of you also heard or read, we got reports from Colombia on Tuesday afternoon that quotes attributed to Jose had been published on their league’s website saying he had chosen to remain with Once Caldas instead of reporting to our team.

These reports surprised us because last week, Michael Burns traveled to Colombia and met personally with Jose and Once Caldas executives to sign the necessary paperwork to complete the loan deal. At that time, Jose signed his MLS contract, and both Jose and Once Caldas officials signed the loan agreement. With everything signed, we announced his signing last Wednesday once MLS received all of the documentation and approved the announcement.

On top of a signed contract and loan agreement being on file, Jose’s Visa approval and ITC transfer have already been initiated, as well.

This deal with Jose and Once Caldas was borne out of three separate trips to Colombia where our folks watched Jose play and met with him for several hours to discuss the move. Once the paperwork was signed last week, we believed he was on his way to joining us later this month for the end of preseason camp.

The biggest reason for the lack of a resolution or response on this issue has been our desire to speak to Jose directly about the reports. In the last day-and-a-half, we have not been able to connect with Jose, and right now that is our highest priority.

We still don’t know with certainty that the quotes attributed to him were in fact his, so if they are, we need to understand what he’s dealing with and where his feelings are coming from before we proceed and find some resolution on the matter.

Thank you again for your concern about Jose, and when we are able to provide a further update, we will.

As you may have noticed in visiting our new blog, there's a little tab up there for "The Far Post." This section of the blog goes hand-in-hand with the Far Post podcast, which returns tomorrow.

In the meantime - cat videos! No really, check out this cat invading the Liverpool-Tottenham match last night. We've only had one cat experience here at Gillette (to my knowledge), and that was during our first-ever shooting of Revolution Gameday in 2010. Sadly, he was too fast to get on video.
