If you haven't heard by now, Gillette Stadium will host its first-ever boxing match on Sunday, August 12 immediately following the Revolution vs. Montreal Impact match (7 p.m. kickoff). Ahead of this soccer-boxing doubleheader a week from this Sunday, the star of the show, Danny O'Connor, stopped by Revolution training today with manager Ken Casey (also of The Dropkick Murphys) and boxing legend Micky Ward ("The Fighter") to chat with the Revs and scope out the stadium. Here are some photos and video from today's visit.
Well, it's been a long, strange trip - but somehow we made it to number 50. Thanks for listening, and be sure to check out this week's historial episode as D.A. calls in with an epic soccer rant and more. And of course, we discuss Philly, controversial calls, retroactive suspensions and look ahead to Sporting KC this Saturday.
Happy birthday to Revolution goalkeeper Tim Murray, who turns 25 today.
Tim shares his birthday with such notable names as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jaime Pressly, Laurence Fishburne, Hilary Swank, Lisa Kudrow, Henry Ford, Tom Green and Christopher Nolan. Not a bad crew right there!
If today is your birthday, happy birthday to you too!

Although the opening ceremonies in London take place tomorrow night, men’s Olympic soccer began today with New England Revolution’s Jerry Bengtson featuring for Honduras in its opening match against Morocco. Bengtson scored both goals for his National Team in the 2-2 draw, the first men’s soccer match of the 30th Olympiad.
Bengtson scored his first goal in the 56th minute, equalizing for Honduras during the run of play. He then converted a penalty kick in the 65th minute to give the Central American team a brief lead, before Morocco leveled the score two minutes later.
The 25-year old was one of three overage players selected by Honduras for the Under-23 tournament. Bengtson signed with the Revolution on July 5 and scored his first career goal in his Revolution- and MLS-debuts on July 8 against the New York Red Bulls, before the club granted him permission to join the Olympic team on July 16.
Honduras is in Group D of the tournament and will next play Spain on Sunday, July 29 at 7 a.m. ET, ahead of the Revolution’s match against the Philadelphia Union, which will be televised nationally on the NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m. Honduras will then play Japan in its third and final group game on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 12 p.m. ET.
We have good news and bad news: Good news - We have a podcast this week. Bad news - Our 50th episode of "The Far Post Podcast" will have to wait one more week, as Cathal had a prior commitment.
So, we called up Revs' beat writer Kyle McCarthy, who is currently in Philly for tonight's All-Star game festivites and talked soccer for 25 minutes.
As you probably know by now, Matt Reis and Darrius Barnes both went home with stitches after Saturday's 0-0 draw against Sporting KC. Barnes had six stitches after colliding heads with Sporting KC's Kei Kamara, and Reis had double that amount after catching an elbow to the head, also from Kei Kamara, in what was possibly the longest stoppage-time period I've ever experienced in regular-season play.
Just how bad was Matt's injury? Here's a few photos of Matt's experience, with a VERY detailed photo of the gash above his right eye before his stitches were administered. If you have a weak stomach or can't stand the sight of blood, you will want to pass on this one. But since we had these, we figured we'd share.

As the Revs take on Sporting KC tonight, defender Stephen McCarthy will be celebrating his 24th birthday.
"Big Macca" (or "Big creepy Steve" as he is known to some) shares his birthday with Hollywood actors Robin Williams, Don Knotts, Josh Hartnett and Jon Lovitz, as well as Author Ernest Hemingway and New Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia.
Does Stephen share his birthday with you? If so, happy birthday!
Thanks to everyone who came out for Sunday's "Meet the Revs" Season Ticket Holder event at Gillette Stadium. Here's some of your photos we've collected from various social networks of yesterday's event.
