The Far Post

20 February 12:55 pm

Last Thursday we held our annual promotional photo/video shoots at Gillette Stadium. It was a whirlwind day, as the players visited three different stations set up throughout the stadium to cover all of the photo and video needs for us creative types to work our magic with. Over the coming weeks and months you'll see the products of the shoots on ads, billboards, TV Broadcasts, wallpapers and more. What you won't see in these media are the photos below.

And as you may have seen on Twitter, A.J. Soares had a camera crew from Comcast SportsNet following him throughout the shoots and that video should surface sometime in the near future on Comcast SportsNet.

Enjoy! Photos by David Silverman.

You're in the shot, dude

"A.J. Soares here, tell us what you think of photo day so far."

"Oh, Hey!"

Uh, can you fix your hair, please? And sit up straight!

"Hey check out my quad!"

The guys made Kelyn laugh. A lot.

"Hey Chris, look what I found out back!"

"How's this?"

"Cut it out, D. You'll pay for this if you keep messing with me..."

...true to his word, Kevin made Darrius laugh so hard he ran off after two photos and had to start over

In case you were wondering, the Revs did not sign former Seattle SuperSonics, Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks center Saer Sene. Different guy.

If you’ve seen pictures from the Revolution’s training camp in recent weeks, you might’ve noticed that second-year center back A.J. Soares saved some money this offseason by opting to stay away from the barber. In a typical West Coast style true to his roots, Soares appears to be letting the hair flow in 2012.

With these recent developments, we here at The Far Post have been left wondering if A.J. is on his way back to his Cal days, when he rocked a hairdo so luxurious it would’ve made David Beckham jealous.

Yours truly, Jeff Lemieux and Cathal Conlon (minus JWro for today, who is unfortunately out sick) along with Kevin the producer bring you the first Far Post podcast of 2012 today. Give a listen below. If you want more, check out older episodes here, and be sure to subscribe on iTunes.

As you may have noticed in visiting our new blog, there's a little tab up there for "The Far Post." This section of the blog goes hand-in-hand with the Far Post podcast, which returns tomorrow.

In the meantime - cat videos! No really, check out this cat invading the Liverpool-Tottenham match last night. We've only had one cat experience here at Gillette (to my knowledge), and that was during our first-ever shooting of Revolution Gameday in 2010. Sadly, he was too fast to get on video.

My fellow Far Post Podcast comrades Jeff Lemieux (Newcastle supporter) and Cathal Conlon (Liverpool supporter) made a friendly bet around Dec 30's matchup between their respective clubs. Sorry Jeff - it's only for one day, and at least it's Friday, right?

Newcastle and Liverpool are set to square off again on March 31, and I am willing to bet that Jeff will be at least checking the score on his phone around 4am PST from his LA hotel room. So, if Jeff looks a little tired for the 3/31 Revs. vs. LA Galaxy Gameday video, you know why. Lastly, we'll be back with a new Far Post podcast the second week of February, following our  trip to Casa Grande, Ariz.
