New England Revolution
As the Revs take on Sporting KC tonight, defender Stephen McCarthy will be celebrating his 24th birthday.
"Big Macca" (or "Big creepy Steve" as he is known to some) shares his birthday with Hollywood actors Robin Williams, Don Knotts, Josh Hartnett and Jon Lovitz, as well as Author Ernest Hemingway and New Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia.
Does Stephen share his birthday with you? If so, happy birthday!
Thanks to everyone who came out for Sunday's "Meet the Revs" Season Ticket Holder event at Gillette Stadium. Here's some of your photos we've collected from various social networks of yesterday's event.
Here in the Revolution Digital department, we're always trying new things. For me, I am obsessed with iOS apps and all the great things they can do to help create cool content. Last night felt like a good night to try out a new app I recently grabbed, iMotion HD. This is essentially a time-lapse application for the iPad and iPhone.
So, I pointed my iPad2 out the press box window, set the app to take a photo every three seconds and let it run from about 6 p.m. (when gates opened) to 9 p.m. (when the match ended). Below are the results, with a little contrast and music added in Final Cut Pro.
See if you can pick out where Lee Nguyen and Jerry Bengtson scored!
Only thing that would have made this better is well, if it was shot on a new iPad or (the iPad2 camera isn't that great), but I think I can live with this for now. Enjoy!
We all know by now that Jay Heaps has lived up to his promise to attack. So, starting with this Saturday's TV broadcast on Comcast SportsNet, you'll be seeing some of this attacking in a new 30-second spot before the match and during halftime. Select Xfinity customers will also start to see this on their big-screens throughout July and August on various channels.
Here's a sneak peek:
Do you love cooking for pre-game tailgates? Why not share your favorite recipes with other Revs fans?
Starting this Saturday, June 30, we want to see what you’re cooking for each Revolution home game.
Here’s what you do:
- Whip up your favorite tailgating food.
- Take a photo of the finished product.
- Eat it (duh).
When you get home or when you’re reliving the match on your couch, submit that photo you took of your masterpiece and post both the photo and the recipe (recipe as the photo caption) you used to make it to the Revolution Facebook timeline (facebook.com/nerevolution).
All recipes posted to our timeline will be plucked from there and pinned to our new “Tailgaters Recipe Book” on the Revs Pinterest page (pinterest.com/nerevolution).
The recipe that receives the most re-pins by will be named “Recipe of the Match.” Re-pins will be counted for three days after the match (Tuesday for a Saturday game, Wednesday for a Sunday game, etc.).
Have fun and let's see those recipes!

MLSSoccer.com profiles Revolution captain Shalrie Joseph in the latest edition of the "Taking the Lead" video series.
Shalrie Joseph has combined his smiling, talkative personality with lessons learned from great teammates to form a leadership style that has his Revs heading in the right direction.
The Revolution had a special guest at todays' training session, as Framingham-born boxer Danny O'Connor was on hand to watch training and meet the guys. Danny is a huge Revs fan and will be the honorary captain at Saturday's match against the Chicago Fire. Jeff Lemieux chatted with Danny afterward, check out the interview and some photos from Danny's visit below.
